Recorded 2-4-2009 in NFDL studio.  This is one of Cliff Eberhardt’s best songs that he performs.  Another song of his called The Long Road I will attempt to record sometime soon.  That also has a beautiful and somewhat haunting beauty.

This is a Steve Kilbey song.  (check out his blog, it’s wild and rambling poetry(stevekilbeyblog.blogspot.com).    This was recorded in the NFDL Studio 2-4-09, a sunny but very cold winter day, taking a break from job searching.

Beyond Belief

This was called a corny country song by Uncle Charlie, but I think it’s good.  It’s written from the perspective of a religious person, a person who is dedicated to his life partner through thick and thin.  This is one of the best songs I have written.   It was also performed live in Fond du Lac at Thanksgiving.   I wish Charlie could have heard the final product.  I can just hear him saying, “Not too bad Jeffrey, not too bad at all!”

This is another song from Richard Shindell and I hope I have done it justice in my chording ways.

When I play this song I think of the soldiers in Iraq and also of my great grandfather who was a body guard for General Sherman.

I played this song live at Immanuel Trinity at their Thanksgiving dinner in 2008.  It was officially my first guitar gig.

I first heard this song from the outstanding Patty Griffin.  She sang the song on Ellen last year, and that is available on www.youtube.com  for those of you who are curious.   I played this song in church as prelude music because it doesn’t have the word God in it.  People gave me compliments on the song.   This is a live recording at the Thanksgiving feast at the church in 2008.

Don’t Let Me Be Misunderstood

This is a song written by three people(Bennie Benjamin, Sol Marcus and Gloria Caldwell) for the late great singer Nina Simone.  I remember my parents listening to Nina Simone when I was three or four years old.  It’s an honor to do this song.  The song has also been recorded by Elvis Costello, Eric Burdon and Yusuf Islam.    I hope I capture some of the beautiful, soulful sound of Simone when I perform this song.  I hope you like it.   :)
